Founder’s Day was celebrated in the Petersburg Park on Sunday, June 21 with a picnic. Hot dogs were donated by Petersburg State Bank, and chips were donated by Rae Valley Market. Following the meal, various games were played. Jim Leifeld reminded everyone of the upcoming events to be held in Petersburg. He also showed where the proposed RV hookups would be in the park. If a wind farm is located in Boone County, the hookups, along with Scholl’s Mobile Home pads, would be a great benefit to the community.
Q125 committee member Jeff Temme advised everyone to begin preparing for the Q125 on June 29, 30 and July 1, 2012. Both Petersburg schools and Raeville school will have their alumni banquets to coincide with the event.
Hank Thieman and Ross Knott talked about the upcoming “Bash in the Burg” fund-raiser for the electronic sign on Highway 14.
The old nativity set, which for many years stood on Main Street, was also sold by silent bid to Vet and Shirley Stuhr.
