Albion Junior Legion loses pair

Anderson is … safe!Eleven was an unlucky number for Albion’s Junior Legion baseball team this past week.
Albion dropped an 11-2 baseball decision to O’Neill Wednesday, June 17, at the Albion Sports Complex, then traveled to Aurora Sunday and was defeated 11-3 by the hosts.
The local Junior Legion continues its schedule this weekend at the Central City Tournament.
Albion got off to a quick start against visiting O’Neill, taking a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first when Lane Anderson and Jerad McLean scored on passed balls. The locals had a chance to do more damage, but left the bases loaded.
From there, it was all O’Neill. The visitors scored a single run in the second inning, then plated four in the third, taking advantage of two walks and a pair of Albion errors. O’Neill added six in the fifth and kept the hosts off the scoreboard, allowing just three Albion baserunners after the first inning.
It didn’t take long for Aurora to take control of Sunday’s contest. The hosts scored nine runs in the second inning as Albion committed five errors. The local Juniors got a single run by Anderson in the third inning and Colton Mazour’s base hit plated Parker Struebing and Tanner Mazour in the fourth.
