If the turnout for the 2009 Cardinal 5K run, two-mile run/walk and one-mile youth run was any indication Saturday, this might turn into a popular event in conjunction with Albion’s alumni weekend festivities.
Approximately 120 walkers and runners took part, with 21 kids participating in the youth fun run on a gorgeous Nebraska morning.
The youngsters circled the Boone Central Schools block 2.5 times to complete the fun run. The fastest overall boy was Braxton Lewis of Overland Park (KS). The fastest girls was Laura Rankin of Spalding.
The older participants ran and walked a course beginning at the Boone County Fitness Center and traveling south through Albion streets, then country roads to the Rose Hill Cemetary and back.
The overall male winner was Danny Gray of Omaha and overall female winner was Cassidy Pribnow of Albion.
