Wind power company focuses on community involvement

Third Planet Windpower employees (l. to r.) Steve Boyer, Mary Forman and Dan Alberts. While Third Planet Windpower (TPW) employees have high hopes that their company’s proposal for a wind farm near Petersburg will be successful this fall, the employees are also making an effort to be involved in Petersburg’s local events.

TPW employees Mary Forman and Steve Boyer took active roles in Petersburg Carnival Days activities in June. Mary officiated the mud volleyball games on June 23-24, and Steve helped judge the obstacle course on June 24.

Both said being involved in community activities is an important part of the company’s culture. “Becoming part of the community where you plan to build a wind farm helps assure success,” said Boyer, Third Planet’s lead land acquisition manager.

Company officials outlined a timeline for the Petersburg wind project, if the proposal of Third Planet Windpower is accepted.
