PrairieLand Resource Conservation & Development (RC&D) will hold its third used computer collection on Aug. 4 and 5, 2009 at the Madison County Fairgrounds. PrairieLand RC&D was awarded $8,450 in grant funds from the Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality to collect used computers and small electronics.
Last year, over 40,000 pounds of unwanted computers, TVs and electronics were collected. Individuals, schools and business are encouraged to bring in used electronics and other recyclables. It is important to keep the toxic and long-lasting materials found in the electronic equipment from being taken to the landfills.
