Groundbreaking Sunday for hospital project

Current emergency entrance building is being removed. All area residents are invited to the groundbreaking ceremonies this Sunday, July 19, for the new $5.77 million Phase III addition to Boone County Health Center, Albion.

The groundbreaking will be held at 2 p.m. at a location near the hospital entrance. Visitors and patrons will be directed to the location as they arrive.

Some work has already begun for the project, which will add 12 more private patient rooms, a family suite for terminally ill patients and two obstetrics suites.

“This is a project that we believe strongly addresses what our patients want, which is private rooms, easily accessible restrooms, and for families to be able to spend around-the-clock time with a family member that is terminally ill, in an enlarged, comfortable suite,” said Vic Lee, hospital administrator and CEO.
