Boone County Commissioners decided Monday that county employees will receive a two percent increase in base salary for their positions starting Jan. 1, 2010.
In addition, the county’s Blue Cross/Blue Shield health insurance plan will remain at $1,500. Employees will be responsible for paying the first $1,000 of deductible health care costs, while the county will pay the next $500.
Even though the insurance plan deductible will increase, the county’s premium cost is expected to grow by about 18 percent next year.
The two percent base salary increase is expected to increase the county’s payroll cost by $30,000 to $35,000 next year, commissioners said.
