Ready for the finale.
Jason Wilkinson of Neligh won the Street Stock A Feature August 14 and added one point to his lead in the tightest season point race at the Boone County Raceway as drivers made one final push to position themselves for this Friday’s Championship Night.
Wilkinson took the SS feature event checkers ahead of challenger Randy Hooker, giving him a three-point edge over the Humphrey driver going into the BCR season finale. Albion’s Mark Hooker finished fourth in the A Feature and is five points back of Wilkinson.
Norfolk’s Nic Kimmel gained breathing room in the Hobby Stock class, placing second in Friday’s A Feature while his nearest rival, Chris Tenski of St. Edward, finished 13th. Kimmel now has a 15-point cushion in the season standings.
Neither season leader in the Modified and Late Model divisions scored a feature event victory August 14, but both retained the large advantages they have enjoyed most of the summer. Robert Osborne of Norfolk leads Plainview’s Jim Johnson by 43 points in the Late Model class and, in Modifieds, Osceola’s Dylan Smith is 38 in front of Jared Hoefelman of Columbus.
BCR Championship Night will begin at 8:00 p.m. Friday, August 21, at the fairgrounds facility in Albion. Along with competition in Hobby Stock, Street Stock, Modified and Late Model classes, the Holt County Sprints will close out their abbreviated BCR schedule. Gary Reber of Gregory, SD has a five-point edge on Norfolk’s Brant O’Banion following the three previous 2009 sprint cards.
The summer racing season will officially end Friday, August 28, with the annual Boone County Raceway Shootout.
