A new 115kV power transmission line will likely be built in 2011-12 from Petersburg to Ericson to serve the electrical needs of a pumping station for the TransCanada Keystone XL Pipeline.
At a public open house in the Petersburg American Legion Hall last Wednesday night, Nebraska Public Power District was informing the public about this project. The power district was also seeking help from area residents to determine the best route for the new transmission line.
This is an important project for NPPD. That much was apparent during the open house. Many NPPD employees were on hand to personally guide members of the public through the process of siting and building the new power line.
The open house featured separate displays on environmental concerns, planning of the power line route, right-of-way acquisition, mapping and much more.
