The Boone Central girls golf team came out swinging and took advantage of a gorgeous afternoon Thursday, August 27, to post some impressive first-meet scores.
The Cardinals opened the 2009 fall season hosting Fullerton at the Albion Country Club and notched a 188-224 victory over the Lady Warriors.
Boone Central Coach Jesse Brodersen was pleased to see that his squad will feature some depth this season to go with junior standout Brooke Bolin (3rd in the 2008 Class C state tournament).
Bolin again led the Cards Thursday, firing an even-par (ladies) nine-hole score of 38 with a dramatic eagle on the par-5 9th finishing hole.
Freshman Amy Ahlers had a strong day in her high school debut, shooting a steady 43, and sophomore Britany Seda added a solid 49.
Senior Kayla Kettelson rounded out the 188 team score with a round of 58. Sophomore Breann Thorberg was the fifth varsity golfer, shooting 67.
In JV play, junior Taylor Ivers carded a 63 and senior Sara Barnes shot 65.
Leading Fullerton was Shelby Wetovick with a 43.
Boone Central will host St. Francis in a dual Thursday.
