A former Albion couple, Keith and Anna Jewell of Norfolk, were killed in a traffic collision about two miles west of Norfolk last Saturday, Sept. 5.
Nebraska State Patrol said 89-year-old Keith Jewell was headed south Saturday afternoon on 49th Street west of Norfolk when he pulled into an intersection at U.S. Highway 275 and collided with a westbound minivan. The patrol said Jewell died later at a Norfolk hospital. His wife, 84-year-old Anna Jewell, was flown to Mercy Medical Center, Sioux City, IA, where she died early Monday.
The minivan driver, 26-year-old Lee Burenheide of Tilden, was taken to a Norfolk hospital in stable condition.
The patrol says Keith Jewell was not wearing a seat belt. His wife and Burenheide were wearing seat belts.
Funeral Services for Anna and Keith will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 11, 2009 at the United Methodist Church in Albion with Revs. K. F. Kaleuati and James Brewer officiating. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Albion. Visitation will be Thursday, Sept. 10, 2009 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the church. Levander Funeral Home of Albion in charge of arrangements.
