Albion Fire Department will be hosting an open house at its new fire station this Saturday, Sept. 12, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Firemen will be on hand to give tours of the new building, and refreshments will be served.
The fire department moved its equipment into the new 13,125-square-foot building in late July, 2009.
Completion of the building marks a milestone for the city that began back in May, 2006, when voters approved a city sales tax increase of one-half of one percent to finance the new fire station, as well as maintenance, new vehicles and equipment. The measure passed by a vote of 474 in favor and 259 opposed.
