O’Neill Rally Dooms Card Volleyers

Cara Struebing With A KillDisappointment.
That would probably best describe the mood of the Boone Central volleyball team following its initial 2009 match vs. O’Neill Thursday night in Albion.
Just when it appeared the Cardinals might sweep to a victory, having taken a 2-0 lead with 25-18, 25-17 wins in the first two games, O’Neill ruined the home opener with a dramatic rally that produced 25-16, 25-22, 15-5 victories and a 3-2 overall triumph for the Eagles.
For Boone Central it came down to errors in all phases of the game following a strong start. The Cards struggled with their passing after the first two games, which did not allow BC to set up its attack. Most of all, service errors plagued Boone Central throughout the final three games.

Bobbi Beckwith led Boone Central at the net with 15 kills on 30-of-32 hitting. Emily Carder added nine kills on 23 hits and Megan Bygland chipped in eight on 11 attack attempts. Erica Carder ran the attack, finishing with 28 assists on 55 sets. She also led in digs with 23. Brooke Michael, Emily Carder and Bygland all scored four points for Boone Central.
