Boone Central Girls Impressive On Links

Amy Ahlers, Brooke Bolin, Britany Seda, Kayla Kettelson, Breann ThorbergThe Boone Central girls golf team is serving notice to Class C competition during the early portion of the 2009 season with some very impressive performances.
These Cardinals are good!
Boone Central handily won a triangular meet at Aurora Thursday, Sept. 10, then ran away with the team championship in the Pierce Invitational Saturday.
Led by a strong trio at the top of the line-up, BC should be a threat in every meet this fall.
“The girls played well this past week,” acknowledged Card Coach Jesse Brodersen. “We are looking forward to Tuesday’s triangular and our invitational were in Albion Saturday and hope to keep the momentum going.”
The Cards opened last week with a solid performance at Aurora, posting a 179 total to easily defeat Class B foes G.I. Northwest (195) and Aurora (196).
Junior Brooke Bolin and freshman Amy Ahlers both fired nine-hole 40s and sophomore Britany Seda shot a 46. Soph Breann Thorberg rounded out the team score with a 53 and senior Kayla Kettelson was close behind at 55.

Boone Central used that momentum Saturday to win the Pierce Invite championship by 37 strokes over runner-up Norfolk Catholic (359-396). Crofton was the only other team in the meet to break 400 (397).
Bolin, who placed third in the Class C state tournament last year, broke her own 18-hole school scoring record with a two-over par 76 on the Pierce Community Golf Course layout.
Ahlers continued her impressive varsity debut by placing second with an 81 and Seda gave the Cardinals a third Top 10 medalist, tieing for fourth place with a round of 87 (6th place medal by scorecard playoff).
Thorberg was again Boone Central’s fourth score on the team total with a 115 and Kettelson finished the day at 119.
