Boone Central Harriers Competitive At Norfolk

In one of the most competitive cross country meets held in Northeast Nebraska, Boone Central had some of the most competitive runners at Friday’s Norfolk Catholic Invitational.
The Cardinal boys finished a very solid fourth in the team standings, led again by senior standout Kevin Carder. The BC girls did not post a team score, but received a top 10 finish from freshman Cassidy Pribnow in her second varsity meet.
“I thought there was improved racing at Norfolk,” praised Card Coach Tom Dickey. “Cassidy is learning how to place herself early and work through a pack well. Kevin outkicked Kevin Weeder of Lindsay Holy Family (the defending Class D state champion) to place third in a very impressive time.
“Our boys’ pack didn’t form quite as well as last week, but Calvin Koziol took off on his own and registered a much better race. Also, Jacob Lindgren ran much better this week.”

Carder followed his second-place finish in the Boone Central Invitational with a strong third at Norfolk, recording Boone Central’s fourth-best all-time clocking over the Skyview Lake course (17:21). Koziol, a freshman competing in his second varsity cross country meet, took 14th with a time of 18:51 and Lindgren was 20th in 19:31. Bryce Schilousky rounded out the team score by finishing 26th in 19:58 and Cody Mangus was 42nd in 21:01.
Pribnow also registered the #4 time on school charts for the Norfolk course as she placed ninth with a 17:05 clocking. Cassie Lindgren was 48th in 21:22 and Mary Jo Stark 54th in 23:30.
