Mike Thiem, a Boone County native with close ties to the area, has been on the job as County Emergency Manager since Sept. 8, 2009.
Mike grew up and attended schools in Albion and Petersburg through the 11th grade. His family then moved to Columbus and he completed his senior year at Lakeview High School, graduating in 1992. After several years of traveling and working in other areas, he moved to Norfolk in 1996 and attended Northeast Community College. He worked eight years at WJAG/KEXL Radio in Norfolk and later worked at radio stations in Columbus and Norfolk.
“I have 12 to 13 years of experience in radio marketing, and I want to use that background to open lines of communication between all assets in Boone County,” he said.
Mike and his wife, Chyla, were married in 1997. They have three children — Ryan, 10; Mickinzie, nine, and Cristopher, seven. The family currently lives in Norfolk, but they are looking for housing in Boone County.
