Taking advantage of a beautiful fall day, the Cardinal girls golf team easily won its Boone Central Invitational tournament Saturday at the Albion Country Club.
It was the second consecutive tourney title for the Cards, as they continue to build momentum for upcoming conference and district competition.
Boone Central finished with a 355 team total, well in front of second-place Scotus (394). Mid-State Conference foe Wayne was third at 403.
Once again, Boone Central was paced by junior standout Brooke Bolin, who fashioned nine-hole rounds of 38 and 41 for a tournament-winning score of 79.
Bolin received ample support from a pair of young teammates. Freshman Amy Ahlers’ pair of 42s were good for a second-place tie individually at 84 and sophomore Britany Seda also had a consistent day, shooting two 43s and placing fourth with her 86.
Senior Kayla Kettelson had matching 53s to record a 106 that rounded out the Cards’ team score. Soph Breann Thorberg was the fifth varsity golfer, shooting 125. Cards Sara Barnes (126) and Taylor Ivers (129) competed as JV golfers.
Jacy Gasper of Scotus fired an 84 to tie Ahlers for second place Saturday and O’Neill’s Allison Depko was the only other competitor to break 90, placing fifth with an 89. The Eagles took fourth place in the team standings with a 405 total.
