Soybeans matured rapidly at the end of September in Boone County, and area farmers made good progress on the soybean harvest last week until they were slowed by damp weather near the end of the week.
Long lines of trucks, waiting to unload at the Cargill elevator off of 260th Street, have been common during the first week of October.
Most soybean yields have been excellent, particularly for dryland beans, according to Steve Pritchard, Extension educator for Boone and Nance counties.
