Card Volleyers Drop Pair At Wayne

You can’t blame the Boone Central volleyball team if it is getting a bit “homesick”.
The Lady Cardinals finished a long stretch of matches away from their home court Tuesday, Oct. 6, dropping a pair of straight-set decisions to host Wayne and Pierce in triangular action.
When last playing in Albion, Boone Central concluded it’s invitational tournament with a 2-3 record. Since, the Cards have gone just 3-8 on the road.
“We’re looking forward to our upcoming home games and home crowd!” acknowledged Cardinal Coach Erin Eickhoff.
Boone Central was defeated 25-19, 25-19 by Wayne in the Oct. 6 triangular meet.
The Cardinals had a solid match serving (90%), receiving serve (88%) and digging (92%), but found themselves continually fighting back against the hosts. BC hit at a .289 kill rate, but was inconsistent at the net (11 hitting errors in 38 attempts). The Cardinals got off to a solid start against Pierce before the Bluejays took control and stormed to a 25-20, 25-11 victory.
Although Boone Central was again strong at the service line (31-of-32), the Cards’ service reception rate dropped to 82% and their dig success was just 66%. BC hit .212, but again had a high number of errors at the net (10 in 33 attempts).
