Albion City Council approved a list of sites and rankings for a proposed new wastewater treatment lagoon last Tuesday evening, Oct. 13.
The council also decided to make inquiries with landowners for potential purchase of each of the top three sites.
In August, the council had selected a facultative lagoon and land application system as its preferred system for replacing the present mechanical treatment plant. Council members also decided to add several criteria to the site ranking system for the lagoon.
At Tuesday’s meeting, a new ranking of possible sites, based on 11 criteria, was approved by the council. Included in the top three sites are two locations southeast of Albion near Highway 39 and one location northwest of town bordering Old Mill Road.
