Boone Central Volleyball Season Ends in C1-7 Sub

Megan Bygland goes for the killFollowing three tough matches in the Mid-State Conference Tournament the previous week, the Boone Central volleyball team concluded its 2009 season in the Class C1-7 Sub-District tournament Monday at Columbus.
Boone Central went 1-2 in the annual conference tournament Oct. 26-27. The Cards opened Monday against #2 seed Norfolk Catholic, dropping a 17-25, 13-25, 12-25 decision. Boone Central played one of its finest matches of the season in the first round of the consolation bracket, defeating West Point Central Catholic 25-17, 20-25, 25-21, 25-19. The Cardinals couldn’t keep that momentum going, however, losing a 19-25, 20-25, 20-25 decision to Wayne in the 5th place contest Tuesday.
Boone Central opened Monday’s sub-district tourney at Columbus with a dominant 25-11, 25-15, 25-17 victory over Central City. Following its opening sub-district win, Boone Central had the unenviable task of facing Class C1 #2 rated Columbus Scotus. The Cardinals continued their solid play in the match, but could not overcome the talented Shamrocks in a 15-25, 14-25, 16-25 decision.
