The Boone Central TeamMates traveled to Omaha Sunday, Nov. 22, to celebrate TeamMates Day with the Creighton Bluejays. The TeamMates total group of over 1,300 enjoyed the men’s basketball game vs. Arkansas-Little Rock.
Creighton (2-1) defeated the Trojans (1-3) 80-65. P’Allen Stinnett led five Bluejays in double figures with 13 points. Kaleb Korver added 12 points and Kenny Lawson, Jr. just missed his first career double-double with 11 points and nine rebounds. Antoine Young and Cavel Witter each finished with 10 points.
Creighton opened the second half with a 15-2 run to pull away from Arkansas-Little Rock, which closed the first half on its own 15-2 blitz to draw within 35-30. The Bluejays jumped ahead 14-4 to start the game and never trailed.
During the game, TeamMates Mentors and Mentees received Bluejay t-shirts, balloons and face painting. Coach Altman and the Jays treated TeamMates youth with an autograph session following the game. Runza provided coupons for a meal on the way home.
TeamMates is a one-to-one school-based mentoring program that matches volunteers from the community with students who would like an additional caring adult in their lives.
