Board approves study of football field, track

A preliminary engineering study for possible improvements on the football field and track was approved by the Boone Central School Board during its special meeting last Thursday morning, Dec. 3.

Superintendent Cory Worrell began the meeting by pointing out that the school track has deteriorated and needs renovation. He added that the football field has uneven and low spots.

The track is in need of resurfacing, and the football field is in need of regrading.

Other improvements at the athletic field have also been suggested, he said. These include additional storage, possibly moving the stadium seating so it is centered on the field, and rebuilding the press box/announcer’s booth.

Estimated cost of the preliminary studies is $13,400 to $14,500.
