Boone Central Boys Edge Ord Chanticleers

Typifying a season in which little has come easily thus far, the Boone Central boys basketball team outscratched and outclawed the host Ord Chanticleers Friday to score a 51-50 victory.
Senior Julian Kunzman shouldered the scoring load for Boone Central (5-8) with 27 of the 51 Cardinal points, while his teammates provided solid defense and rebounding and chipped in enough offense to eke out the decision.
“A solid effort by many players enabled us to leave Ord with a much-needed win,” commented Boone Central Coach Dan Zoucha. “We played with a lot of intensity and purpose.
“We took care of the ball, having a season-low eight turnovers. We were also able to convert seven points off Ord turnovers, which proved to be huge down the stretch.
“We showed a lot of poise in the closing minutes when it seemed to get a little physical,” Zoucha praised. “We are proud of the effort.”

Kunzman was the only Boone Central player in double figures. Christo and Olson each netted six points for the Cards. Jace Willets led rebounding with nine and Trey Sorell dished out three assists.
