Meyer wins County Spelling Contest

Jackson MeyerJackson Meyer, an eighth grader at Boone Central Public Schools, won the annual Boone County Spelling Bee last Wednesday, Feb. 3, courthouse in Albion.

He earned a trip to Omaha to represent Boone County in the annual Midwest Spelling Bee, sponsored by the Omaha World-Herald, to be held Saturday, March 13, at Creighton University’s Harper Center.

This year’s county contest attracted 35 participants, representing Boone Central Elementary, Boone Central Middle School, Cedar Rapids Public School and St. Edward Public School. Kathy Thorberg, Boone County Clerk, was the Spelling Bee Official. Cheryl Kuehner served as enunciator for the contest. Serving as judge was Connie Sugden.
