The Shrine Bowl of Nebraska announced the rosters for the 52nd Nebraska Shrine Bowl football game last week. Boone Central senior Nathan Olson was selected as a member of the North squad for the 2010 contest.
The Shrine Bowl has been moved to an earlier date this year and will be held June 19 at Memorial Stadium in Lincoln. The game, which showcases many of the premier Nebraska high school players from the 2009 season, benefits Shriners Hospitals.
Olson, 6-4, 220-pounds, was a C1-6 All-District selection this past season and received Class C1 All-State recognition from the Lincoln Journal-Star and Huskerland Prep Report.
As a defensive lineman, Olson led Boone Central in solo tackles (44) and was second in assisted stops (52) and total tackles (96). He was the Cardinal leader in sacks (5.0), tackles for loss (16.5) and forced fumbles (2) and also recovered two fumbles.
Head coach for the North in the 2010 Shrine Bowl will be Mike Speirs of Howells. Kevin Kush of Boys Town will head the South coaching staff.
