A first step toward downtown redevelopment was taken by the Albion City Council last Tuesday night when it passed a resolution declaring the area “blighted and substandard and in need of redevelopment.”
The action was recommended by the City Planning Commission to set the stage for a variety of improvement projects that are intended to rejuvenate the business district using such funding sources as tax increment financing, revolving loans and grants, along with private financing.
