Albion News and Petersburg Press were among the newspapers earning top awards at the 2010 Nebraska Press Association (NPA) Convention held last Friday and Saturday, April 16 and 17, in Kearney.
On Friday, both newspapers received a top award from the Nebraska Corn Board for producing of the Best 2009-2010 Nebraska Corn Tabloid for weekly newspapers over 1,500 circulation.
Both newspapers also received awards at the NPA Better Newspaper contest final banquet on Saturday night.
The Albion News earned first place awards for a full color advertisement and for public notice and its promotion.
The Petersburg Press earned a total of six awards, including first place for a full color ad promoting the “Bash in the Burg” and its classified advertising page. The Press received second place awards for single classified ad idea, and a community promotion “Shop at Home” ad. The Press also received third place awards for small black and white advertisement and single retail advertising idea in color.
