As is often the case for spring racing, the Boone County Raceway in Albion dealt with chilly temperatures on its 2010 opening night Friday, April 30.
The weather did not stop a large turnout of competitors, drawn partially by added purse money donated by the Iverson family in memory of Lynn Iverson and Michael Beierman, from providing heated action on the track, however.
The full fields in all four classes of competition, with drivers from Iowa and South Dakota as well as around the state, provided plenty of entertainment for fans who braved the nippy conditions.
Jason Wilkinson of Neligh, the 2009 BCR Street Stock champion, surely didn’t mind the weather – or even notice it – as he kicked off the BCR campaign with victories in both the Hobby Stock and Street Stock A Feature races.
Norfolk’s Robert Osborne got off to a strong start in defending his ‘09 BCR Late Model title with a victory in LM A Feature and Jordan Grabouski of Beatrice won the first Modified A of 2010.
