Petersburg Memorial Day Services will have two guests speakers on May 31, 2010 at 8:45 a.m.
Jim Temme, Petersburg native and now residing in Omaha, will give a power point presentation on his recent personal experience traveling to and giving aid to the Haiti earthquake survivors. He is employed at the University of Nebraska Medical Center as an instructor/specialist.
Steve Grosserode of Lincoln is a World War II Veteran and served in the Pacific including the Philippines, Okinawa and Korea. He will give the audience his experiences in the war. He stated, “I’ve given several speeches on this. It always makes people proud of our Veterans and what sacrifices they gave our country.”
Legion Commander Hank Thieman said, “This is one year the public should attend, to show appreciation for our freedom and respect toward our fallen heroes.”
