Council opts for mechanical sewer plant
Bids for Albion’s new city well came in about $90,000 higher than the original engineer’s estimate.
The city council decided last Tuesday to table the bid acceptance for the well and begin negotiations with the contractor to possibly reduce costs.
The council also decided to pursue a different option for the city’s new sewage treatment plant.
The city will now pursue a mechanical sewage treatment plant, rather than a lagoon system, because of several factors including engineer’s recommendations, new discharge requirements for wastewater lagoons and stalled negotiations for purchase of a lagoon site.
