Raceway features more hot action

Mark Lueken (12) and James Kelley (28) battle for position in a Late Model heat. With a slick oval on a sweltering summer night, drivers attempted to alter the top of the Boone County Raceway point standings Friday, June 25, at the fairgrounds track in Albion.

However, despite no 2010 BCR season point leaders winning feature races Friday, none lost their positions atop the standings.

Travis Albracht of Lincoln took the victory in the Hobby Stock A Feature, but Neligh’s Jason Wilkinson, 4th in the feature race, retained a sizeable 21-point advantage in the standings at the end of the night.

Ross Afrank of Norfolk outdueled Albion’s Tyler Iverson and Mark Lueken in the Modified feature event, leaving Iverson 10 points in front of Lueken in the overall point battle.

In the Late Model A, Eric Vanosdall of Winside raced to the win, with Lueken finishing 10th, but the Albion driver maintained a 10-point cushion over fellow local Mike Kelley, who ran 4th in Friday’s feature.

In the closest current season race, Mark Hooker of Albion made up sizeable ground in the Street Stock division. Hooker took 2nd place in the stock car feature behind Albion’s Dave Langan and pulled within four points of Wilkinson, who finished 8th in the A event.
