The Boone County Raceway welcomed the SLMR Late Model series back to Albion Friday, Aug. 6, and popular Marquette driver Kyle Berck entertained the fans on hand with a victory in the SLMR A Feature.
Action was also hot and heavy in the three regular BCR divisions of competition that served as support classes to the SLMR special event.
In the most closely contested season point race at the fairgrounds oval, Albion’s Mark Hooker, who edged two points ahead of Neligh’s Jason Wilkinson one week ago, placed fourth in the Stock Car A feature and increased his advantage to six points as Wilkinson ran eighth. Doug Adamy of Columbus won his first feature race of the season, solidifying his grip on third place in the division standings.
David Thome of Spalding was also a first-time 2010 BCR feature winner in Modified action. Tyler Iverson remains seven points ahead of fellow Albion driver Mark Lueken for the season, although Lueken shaved five points off his deficit with a third-place showing Friday.
In the Hobby Stock A event, Shawn Rasmussen of Albion won his second feature of 2010 and remains seventh in the season standings. Class leader Wilkinson ran just fifth in the feature race, but stills holds a comfortable 17-point lead over Atkinson’s Dusty Poessnecker.
