Boone County group seeks NPPD support for Wind Education Center

Nebraska Public Power District Board of Directors was asked last Friday to become a part of the effort to establish a renewable energy education and research center in Boone County.

As proposed, the facility would include real-time wind energy data and video connections to provide a “unique opportunity for all levels of education,” said Ross Knott of Petersburg, who spoke during a PowerPoint presentation about the center.

Others speaking in support of the potential economic and educational benefits for the county and surrounding region were Shannon Landauer, executive director of Boone County Development Agency (BCDA); Larry Temme, owner of Rae Valley Market in Petersburg and a Boone Central School Board member, and District 41 State Senator Kate Sullivan.
