Stage Set For Boone County Raceway Championship Night

Bryan Molt (11B) won Friday’s LM A FeatureThe stage was set for Championship Night with the final racing card of the 2010 regular season Friday night at the Boone County Raceway in Albion.
With Albion’s Mark Hooker making a big gain in the Stock Car class August 13, all four of the BCR’s regular divisions will have a clear-cut leader as favorite going into Friday’s championship finales.
Hooker scored a solid second-place finish behind Ron Pettitt of Norfolk in the Stock Car A Feature this past week, ballooning his season lead to 11 points as Neligh’s Jason Wilkinson ran seventh.
Wilkinson continues to hold a comfortable 16-point cushion in the Hobby Stock class despite a fifth-place finish Friday in that division’s feature event. Tyler Afrank of Norfolk won his first BCR feature in Hobby Stock racing.
David Thome of Spalding won his second Modified A Feature during the ‘Friday the 13th’ card, with Mark Lueken placing second. Fellow Albion driver Tyler Iverson still has a five-point edge over Lueken in the season standings, however, after a fourth-place run Friday.
The Late Model class also saw a first-time 2010 feature winner as Bryan Molt of Cedar Rapids took the A event checkers. Molt is the 10th different LM feature winner at the Boone County Raceway this summer. Lueken placed fifth Friday and holds a 16-point lead over Albion’s Mike Kelley in the season standings.
Season champions will be crowned in Hobby, Stock Car, Modified and Late Model classes, as well as the Holt County Sprints, during Championship Night racing Friday, August 20 (8 p.m.).
The Boone County Raceway will conclude its 2010 overall season August 27 with the annual Boone County Raceway Shoot Out.
