Boone County American Legion and Auxiliary is sponsoring the annual Boone County Freedom Walk this Saturday, Sept. 11, at Petersburg, starting at 8 p.m.
The walk will start at the Petersburg Park and proceed into the downtown area, ending at the Legion Club. A brief ceremony is planned, and will be followed by snacks and drinks.
The annual event is held in remembrance of the Sept. 11 attacks on America in New York City, The Pentagon and aboard American Airlines Flight 93. The event is also a time for all ages to show appreciation for freedom, and to ensure and preserve future freedoms.
