Boone County’s 2010-11 property tax levy will be about one cent lower than last year, but the levy will raise about $215,000 more in total property taxes.
Commissioners adopted the new budget following a public hearing at the courthouse Monday, Sept. 13.
The county’s valuation increased by more than $101 million or about 10.8 percent this year.
The county’s total tax request increased by $215,093 or about 7.1 percent from last year’s total of $2,994,539 to the 2010-11 total of $3,209,632.
With the higher valuation, a reduced tax rate of .309418 will raise the higher amount in property taxes. Last year’s county property tax rate was .319864.
