On Saturday, Sept. 11, approximately 85 people gathered in the Petersburg Park for the annual Boone County Freedom Walk hosted by American Legion Post #334. In parade style, they followed flag bearers to the front of Legion building where the flags were held in formation while 9-11 was recalled.
Post Commander Hank Thieman welcomed those present stating, ” 9-11 was a call for change in America.” He introduced the guest speaker Jackie Wells, Boone County Veterans Service Officer.
The Freedom Walk is held in a Boone County community each year to commemorate 9/11.
