Boone Central’s cross country teams had performances even better than their final standings might indicate in a very competitive Columbus Scotus Invitational Friday, Sept. 17.
The Cardinal boys finished fourth in team competition and sophomore Calvin Koziol turned in an impressive top five performance. The Boone Central girls were seventh in team standings with soph Cassidy Pribnow placing in the top ten.
“The Scotus meet was huge! Not just a lot of runners, but a lot of excellent teams,” commented Boone Central Coach Tom Dickey. “For example, I really felt our girls ran a great team race, but were ‘only’ seventh.
“The guys were really glad to have Jacob Lindgren back on the course and Calvin just keeps running wonderfully-timed races. He’s really figured things out!
“I’m confident we’ll continue to make great strides with both these teams,” he added. “We may not have as much pure talent as some other teams, but I do know we have great amounts of heart and desire.
“The junior high kids ran fantastic races,” Dickey praised. “It was a joy to watch them totally lay themselves out on the course – they love to compete!”
