Area farmers making quick work of harvest

Unloading corn on the move.Despite small amounts of rain on Monday, Oct. 11, combines continued to churn through the fields in most areas of Boone County.

Monday’s sprinkles marked the first rainfall since Sept. 25 in most of Boone County. The forecast Monday afternoon called for a 20 percent chance of rain again Tuesday, followed by four straight days of sunny skies.

Many area farmers have completed the soybean harvest and moved on to corn. Soybean harvest was estimated at 90 to 95 percent complete in the Boone County area.
