Space needs in the Sheriff’s office were a prime topic at the County Commissioners meeting Monday, Oct. 18.
A possible plan for renovating the existing dispatch center in the Sheriff’s office had been drawn by Beckenhauer Construction Co. This was reviewed by the department, and Sheriff Dave Spiegel reported the plan was not favored by the staff because it doesn’t provide the needed space.
“We need more space,” said Spiegel, who reviewed various additional duties that office staff must administer. For example, the new security system in the courthouse and courtroom requires additional equipment, and the new statewide radio system also requires additional radios and transmitters. “The dispatch center is becoming very crowded,” said Sheriff Spiegel.
Possible solutions are now under consideration.
