Albion City Council reorganizes, new councilman takes office

Albion City Council last Thursday night reviewed an engineering study of the city swimming pool, adopted changes in a lease agreement for the State Fire Marshall’s office space, and held its reorganizational meeting.

Don Rutten, a former Albion mayor and city councilman, was sworn in to begin his four-year term on the council after winning the post as a write-in candidate in the November general election.

Mayor Jim Jarecki and Councilman Jim Riedmiller were re-elected in November. Riedmiller was re-elected by the council as Council President.

Mayor Jarecki thanked the retiring councilman, Cole Frey, for his service and urged him to stay involved in city affairs. Frey served four months on the council by appointment.
