Nursing home drive hits $700,000

Only $50,000 remains to be raised for a new wing at Good Samaritan Society’s Wolf Memorial Nursing Home in Albion.

As of Dec. 21, a total of $700,000 had been raised toward the $750,000 fundraising goal.

More than $28,000 was contributed during the past week, putting the goal within reach by the end of 2010. Funds will be used to build a new 20-bed rehabilitation and skilled care wing to replace the outdated north wing.

Total project cost is estimated at $3.5 million. Of this total Good Samaritan Society is providing $1.25 million, and GSS-Albion has raised an additional $750,000. This leaves $1.5 million to be raised through the local campaign, with $750,000 in local contributions matched by an anonymous donor.
