Lady Cardinals Rout Fullerton

Glidden fires for twoFacing an overmatched Fullerton team, the Boone Central Lady Cardinals maintained their focus and primed for this week’s sub-district tournament with a 73-19 rout of the host Warriors.
The contest was never in doubt as Boone Central rolled to a 26-6 lead in the opening period. Seven Cardinals scored in the quarter, led by Sara Wells and Jenna Lehmann with six apiece inside. Brooke Michael and Jaime Kennedy provided the long-distance points with a 3-point field goal each.
BC forged a 37-10 halftime lead and continued the torrid pace after intermission with a 24-point third period. Wells added eight more points in the quarter, while Kennedy and Michael again splashed home treys.
“I was very pleased with our mindset in this game. We defended intelligently, forcing 45 turnovers, yet committing only nine fouls,” praised Coach Mike Kennedy. “We gave up only four offensive rebounds, which is a dominant effort on the defensive boards. It was a very focused effort on defense.
“Sara Wells had a career night, going 8-for-8 from the field and scoring 18 points. Maria Glidden had a great night with nine points, nine rebounds and five steals.”
