As expected, the 2010 U.S. Census results showed a population loss for Boone County and most surrounding counties.
Platte County had the largest population gain for any area county in the 2010 count. The county increased in population by 1.8 percent during the past decade, and its largest city, Columbus, grew by 1,140 people or 5.4 percent.
The rest of the seven-county region saw their populations shrink once again.
Boone and Antelope counties both had population losses exceeding 10 percent for the past decade.
