Albion woman’s family survived Japan quake

After several tense days of trying to contact family members in Japan, Yuko Holladay of Albion was relieved to hear Monday that they are alive and well following the magnitude 8.9 earthquake there.

Yuko and her husband, Richard “Doc” Holladay, own and operate the Dunes Motel in Albion.

Yuko hails from the city of Sendai, in northern Japan, which is the largest city near the quake’s epicenter off the coast. Yuko’s father and two sisters live in Sendai.
