Boone Central Golfers Feature Numbers, Lack Varsity Time

The Boone Central boys golf program will have strong numbers in 2011, but, for the second year in a row, very few players who possess varsity experience.
Cardinal Coach Dennis Walters has four lettermen to build around and expects several golfers with JV experience, as well as some new faces, to help this season.
“Kade Leetch, Logan Frey, Curtis Thompson and Hunter Henry are our only returning lettermen,” Walters noted. “They will be helped by returning team members Jacob Olson, Sean Soll and Jesse Zwiener, as well as new team member Trey Sorell.
“There are several other new team members who could fit into the team picture, but time will tell. With a year’s experience behind the returning players, I’m sure we will be much better than a year ago.”
Leetch, a junior, led Boone Central varsity scoring in several mid-season meets in 2010 and sophomore Henry and seniors Thompson and Frey are the top scorers back from the varsity group that competed in the B-3 District meet in Hastings.
