Boone Central senior Bobbi Beckwith has been selected to participate in the 32nd Annual Nebraska Coaches Association (NCA) All-Star Girls Basketball Game.
The 5-foot-9 guard/forward, who became the all-time leading scorer in Boone Central girls basketball program history this past season, will be a member of the 12-player Blue Team, coached by Gretna’s Jerome Skrdla and Tim Streff of Blue Hill.
The 2011 NCA All-Star girls and boys games will be held Monday, July 25, at Lincoln North Star High School. The girls game will tip-off at 6 p.m., followed by the boys contest at 8 p.m.
Nebraska high school coaches are asked to nominate and rate the players they have seen during the season on all-star potential and attitude. Once evaluations are received by the NCA, they are tabulated and the final results are made available to the selection committee. The All-Star selection committee is made up of coaches from around the state who are NCA members.
Beckwith led the 18-5 Cardinals in scoring in 2010-11, averaging 12.1 points per game. She topped the team in free throws and free throw percentage and averaged 4.4 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 2.6 steals per contest. She was a Class C1 all-state second team selection by the Omaha World-Herald and Associated Press.
