Laredo Ridge ranks high in power output

A recent Nebraska Public Power District report on energy supply from wind farms showed a high performance rating for the Laredo Ridge Wind Farm near Petersburg.

The first two months of official operation for Laredo Ridge were February and March, 2011. During February, the wind farm produced at 61 percent of capacity, compared to budgeted production of 40.5 percent. In March, Laredo Ridge produced at 50.3 percent of capacity, compared to budget of 43.8 percent.

Elkhorn Ridge Wind Farm at Bloomfield produced at 42.4 percent of capacity in February and 38.3 percent in March. NPPD’s Ainsworth wind turbines produced at 44 percent of capacity in February and 34 percent in March.
