Hope and progress in the fight against cancer will be celebrated during the 15th annual Boone County Relay for Life this Friday and Saturday, June 10-11, at the Boone Central High School track.
The event begins at 7 p.m. Friday and continues through 7 a.m. Saturday. It is held each year to raise funds for American Cancer Society research, education, advocacy, patient services and programs. Last year’s Relay for Life raised $22,900 for these purposes.
At 8 a.m. on June 10, volunteers are asked to help prepare the luminaria so they can be placed around the track.
Cancer survivors are encouraged to come and register after 6 p.m. that evening. Their names will be read as they come to the track lane. Cancer survivors will walk or ride on a golf cart for the first lap.
